RSA SecurID is a multi-factor authentication technology that is used to protect network services. The RSA SecurID authentication mechanism consists of an assigned hardware or software "token" that generates a dynamic authentication number code at fixed intervals. Users provide the unique number code when logging into a protected service from any network outside the State network.
What is a Token Passcode?For a Software Token, your Token Passcode is the eight-digit number generated after entering your PIN on the RSA App. On your Soft token, the passcode refreshes every sixty seconds. If you have difficulty logging in after providing the passcode, ensure the correct PIN was entered.

First time Software Token users are required to install the Microsoft Outlook App on mobile devices and add your Email Account (refer to Steps 1 and 2). Users who have already installed the Microsoft Outlook App should proceed to Step 3.

However it does not seem to work on Internet Explorer 8. The token is packaged in a .war file and is available on sourceforge. I have Windows, Mac, and Linux computers; but I am only able to connect to some of my company's websites through the Windows and Mac machines at the moment because they are the only ones with RSA SecurID software tokens. I'm curious: is it possible to set up a SecurID software token to work on a Linux system (in my case, Ubuntu)?
There isn't a RSA Software token for linux, so you will need to resort to using Wine (or running windows in a virtual machine). There is a thread here where the Wine version and RSA Software version detailed that has been found to work.
Personally, I'm too lazy to pick up my phone, open the RSA app, enter my PIN, and then type it into the login page. I also don't like to deal with Wine. So, instead, I created a totally insane solution to this problem. I wrote a script that will SSH into a Windows machine, launch the RSA app, enter your PIN, copy the result, and put it in the clipboard of your local Linux machine. To do this you need a Windows machine that you can access via SSH with the RSA software installed. I used freesshd as the SSH server in Windows. You will also need AutoHotKey and PsExec.
Beginning May 9, 2012, the Windows Mobile 6.x Marketplace service is no longer available. To replace the service Entrust is now hosting the application download; it is the same version previously available through Microsoft, and there is no need to upgrade.
The first step is to download Entrust Identity App to your mobile device. It can be found on the Apple App Store, Blackberry World, and Google Play. For non-Apple devices, you may also be able to download Entrust Identity App directly from the organization where you will use it to strongly authenticate online.
After you have downloaded the Entrust Identity App, you must activate it and create an Identity. Please consult the website of the organization you wish to use Identity Enterprise with. The organization must have deployed the Identity Enterprise versatile authentication platform to provide this activation.
Once you have activated Entrust Identity App, you are ready to use it for strong authentication to online and network resources.

An SDTID file is a soft token file used by RSA SecurID Software Token, an application used to authenticate a user's identity and manage their access to a network. It contains token data which includes the token profile name, device type, token code duration, token code digit length, authentication type, delivery method, and device specific attributes. SDTID files are typically encrypted with 128-bit (AES) encryption and distributed in .ZIP files.
Tokens are used to authorize a user to gain access to a computer system or secure location. A soft token, or "virtual token," is generated and sent to authorized users to verify that their device can be used within a secure network or access the server. The SDTID is used by RSA to store and distribute tokens to authorized users to allow them to gain access to a network.
The primary way to distribute the SDTID files is by email or download from a secure site, which requires you to log in. You must download the RSA SecurID Software Token program in order to authenticate your identity and access the specific network.
You can convert SDTID file to a compressed token format (CTF) string to be used on mobile devices, such as Android and iOS phone or tablets. You can convert the SDTID file using the RSA Software Token Converter.
An RSA SecurID Soft Token file has an .sdtid file extension. Use the RSA Software Token Converter to convert the .sdtid file to an XML-format 81-digit numeric string. Obtain the latest software and information from the RSA Web site.
The token hardware is designed to be tamper-resistant to deter reverse engineering. When software implementations of the same algorithm ("software tokens") appeared on the market, public code had been developed by the security community allowing a user to emulate RSA SecurID in software, but only if they have access to a current RSA SecurID code, and the original 64-bit RSA SecurID seed file introduced to the server.[3] Later, the 128-bit RSA SecurID algorithm was published as part of an open source library.[4] In the RSA SecurID authentication scheme, the seed record is the secret key used to generate one-time passwords.
